These box style cards are a nice way to jazz up a gift card. These cards are sized to take the gift card and it’s backing card, yet still fit into a C6 envelope. The bases are quick and simple to make. I made these using some double sided Christmas paper, and then laid a plain layer onto the card which I decorated.
You will need:
12×8 inch piece of card
two matting boards, each 1.75inches x 5.25 inches
cut outs/stickers for decorating
12 inches elastic cord for tying
Start by scoring the paper. With the paper in landscape orientation, score at 2,4,8 & 10 inches. Rotate the card 90 degrees to the portrait orientation and score at 1.25 inches. Rotate the paper 180 degrees and score at 1.25 inches.
Cut along the 1.25 inch score lines to the second cross score on all 4 corners.
Fold the thin flaps aligning the inside edge along the second score line:
Push the mountain folds just made inwards so that they make valley folds along the diagonal fold line just made:
Trim the 4 thin flaps along the middle fold line. Fold the sides inwards along the middle two sets of score lines. Use double sided tape to tape the flaps to the outside of the card:
Push the diagonal folds inwards and fold the sides outwards along the outer scored lines to close the box card so that it looks like a gate fold card.
Glue the 5.25×1.75 strips on to the front flaps and decorate.
Put the gift card inside the box, flatten and tie the elastic cord around the card to keep the card folded flat.
